Frequent Questions FAQ'S

What is 3D Jewellery Design ?

3D rendering is the process of converting 3D CAD models into images with 3D photorealistic effects. We also need to design a model we can use to print in wax for our Lost Wax Casting Process.

What can I Design ?

The world is your oyster when it comes to what you can design. We usually suggest you start with a few pictures that can be found online – Pinterest is a good start. After you know what you are looking for, we will take it from there.

What Should I Consider When Deciding on a General Budget ?

Deciding on a price-range helps us at Ralph Jacobs Create Jewellery to source the best possible quality gemstones and diamonds for your unique design according to your specifications. With your budget, we will be able to determine what components we can place in the initial design. We do realise that every client’s perfect engagement ring is going to be different and that not every ring calls for an enormous budget. The cost of the ring usually depends on the quality and type of gemstone used in the final design. Diamonds, sapphires or emeralds are the most expensive gems, and if chosen, will make up the majority of the total price.

When deciding on a Budget, we suggest a basic diamond, sapphire or emerald ring starts at approximately R15 000 for an uncomplicated design. For more complicated designs with larger and better-quality stones, we work with a range of supplied budgets up to a million rand. We then individually source the best largest gemstone and metal within the supplied amount. It is possible to create a ring for less, but then either the size or the quality of the gemstone will be compromised. Should you prefer to use another type of gemstone in your design, we will happily assist you in deciding which one will work best. Taking this in consideration, please note that we do not custom-design rings for less than R6 000,00.

What is the Price of the RIng I saw on Social Media ?

We often showcase our design on Social media, but we will never design the same ring for two different clients. We believe that your design is unique and you have the right to own the only one created. We pride ourselves in delivering exclusive, special designs to every customer.

How Do I Find My RIng Size ?

We suggest you visit a local jeweller to get your size.If you are planning on proposing, try to find a ring that the lucky person is currently wearing and make sure it fits around their wedding finger ( left hand next to the pinky if you were wondering, lol ) However, if you are unable to do this, you are more than welcome to use our sizing chart. Please note that this is merely a guide to help you, so we cannot be held responsible should the ring be a little too big or too small.

Alternatively, you can contact us to request a free Ring Sizer. We are happy to send you a complimentary plastic ring sizer so that you can easily measure your ring size at home.

Do I Get To See The Design Before You Manufacture ?

After we have all your information, and the design fee has been paid, we will commence with the design phase. When the initial design is complete, we will send you a few images that will show you exactly what your design will look like.

Can I make Changes to the Design If I'm Not Completely Satisfied ?

Yes – We will gladly make changes to your design until you are 100% satisfied.

How Long Does the Designing Phase Take?

After all the information is received, we will usually revert back to you with the first renderings within 72 hours.
